Harbour Master
Harbour Masters
Worldwide there are approximately 3,000 merchant ports and the work of the Harbour Master can vary widely from country to country and from port to port even within the same country.

Harbour safety is a critical concern for port and terminal operators, yet traditional safety equipment often falls short—prone to corrosion, high maintenance costs, and poor visibility in critical situations. These challenges put workers at risk and increase operational inefficiencies.
Port-Safety addresses these pain points with innovative solutions like the LifeLadder Thor® and Turtle Handhold Set, designed to enhance safety, minimize maintenance costs, and improve visibility day and night, in all weather conditions. Made from durable, corrosion-resistant materials, these solutions ensure long-term reliability while reducing the need for frequent inspections and repairs.
By adopting these next-generation safety innovations, ports and terminals can enhance operational efficiency, improve worker safety, and achieve greater sustainability. Don’t let outdated safety infrastructure put your people and operations at risk—future-proof your port today!

The International Harbour Masters Association (IHMA) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), through its TrainForTrade Programme have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to formalise their collaboration in advancing capacity building and knowledge sharing for port communities worldwide.
In 2019, Belfast Harbour Marina — located next to the Titanic Museum — initiated a project to enhance waterfront safety. After careful evaluation of the challenges faced by harbour environments, including corrosion of traditional metal ladders and limited visibility for rescue operations, the marina chose to install Port-Safety’s LifeLadder® solution.
