Regional Harbour Masters' Committees
IHMA members within a defined geographical region of two or more neighbouring countries may seek IHMA authority to establish a Regional Committee. The aim of a Regional Committee is to further the specific interests of IHMA's members within that region.
At present, there are two Regional Committees, the European Harbour Masters' Committee (EHMC) and the African Harbour Masters' Committee (AHMC).
These Regional Committees are managed by their respective boards from which a Chair is elected to each. There are board members representing each of the specific areas of the region - South, East, West, North and Central. The Chair of each Regional Committee is also co-opted to ExCo.

EHMC Objectives
The aim of the EHMC is to further the specific interests of IHMA's individual members in that region.
As well as the benefits of IHMA membership, European Harbour Masters receive the following benefits of membership of the European Harbour Masters' Committee:
- A focus on European issues
- European identity in the eyes of European institutions
- Representation of the views of European Harbour Masters
- A European voice in the European institutions
- Influence in European policies concerning ports and shipping transport
- Dissemination of information
- Seminars on professional topics in the years between the IHMA’s biennial Congress
- Networking opportunities
- Discussions and exchange of information and best practice between European Harbour Masters
- Monitoring the flow of information, directives and consultative papers that come from the European Commission
- Contributing, as an expert group, to European research projects. In this respect, the EHMC is registered as a group of professional experts in the CONECCS database—the database for Consultation, the European Commission and Civil Society.

EHMC SEMINAR
The EHMC Seminar is usually a one-day event that gives European members the opportunity to meet between IHMA congresses, discuss topics of common interest and learn from a variety of speakers. The seminars are very reasonably priced thanks to the sponsorship of the host port.

African Harbour Masters' Committee (AHMC)
AHMC Objectives
The African Harbour Masters’ Committee was formally established on 25 January, 2021.
The AHMC brings together harbour masters from the African continent and collaborates to share ideas and provide guidance, support, and direction on the management of all aspects of maritime port operations.

AHMC SEMINAR
The inaugural African Harbour Masters' Committee Seminar will be held in Tanger, Morocco on 2 - 3 March 2023 and will initiate the launch of partnership actions for the AHMC through the signing of agreements aimed at sharing knowledge and skills, as well as the programming of training sessions for the benefit of port officers and African harbour masters.
