Worldwide there are approximately 3,000 merchant ports and the work of the Harbour Master can vary widely from country to country and from port to port even within the same country.
For the second year in a row IHMA has launched a campaign to call attention to the invaluable contribution seafarers make to international trade and the world economy, often at great personal cost to themselves and their families.
Following the success of last year’s campaign in which were received a considerable number of drawings from children all over the world, IHMA is once again calling on the families of its members and of the wider community to help show their support for seafarers by having the young people in their lives draw a picture.
Whether they lovingly design their own, or proudly print and colour a picture, IHMA wants you to help us say thank you to seafarers for all trouble they go through for our benefit. For ideas on what to draw, please see a selection of submissions from last year.
Drawings can be submitted in electronic form to the following e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org . Hard copies can be also sent by post to: IHMA, 2 Burgh Mount, Banstead, Surrey, SM7 1ER, United Kingdom.
Drawings received by post will be delivered to seafarers at member ports. Drawings submitted electronically will be posted on the external IHMA website.
Artists are encouraged to include their name and age on their work.
The initiative is open now until International Day of the Seafarer on 25 June 2022.
