Harbour Masters
Worldwide there are approximately 3,000 merchant ports and the work of the Harbour Master can vary widely from country to country and from port to port even within the same country.
The 76th session of the Council was held from 12 to 16 December 2022 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and by video conference. 32 new documents (Recommendations, Guidelines, and Model Courses) were approved as well as one workshop proposal and the budget for 2023.
Each councilor reported on national matters and the Secretary General Francis Zachariae briefed on the latest news of the IALA Secretariat.
Numerous technical documents were approved. By election Cap Spartel Lighthouse in Morocco is to be IALA’s Lighthouse of the Year, 2023.
The Council granted honorary membership to Barry Goldman. He has been IHMA’s representative to IALA for many years and we send our heartiest congratulations.
The Council also approved the Terms of Reference for the newly established IALA Disaster Recovery Fund.
