June 13, 2023, Halifax, NS – With the arrival of the MSC Elma on Sunday, June 11 to PSA Halifax Atlantic Hub, the Port of Halifax has officially welcomed its fifth MSC Service. The Ecuador to NWC Service rotation includes stops at Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Halifax, Boston, Freeport, Balboa, Guayaquil, Puerto Bolivar, Guayaquil, Paita, Cristobal, Moin and Antwerp.

IHMA has chosen, ‘THE MARINE ADVENTURE - Evolving and adapting to change in today’s ports’ as the theme for the 14th International Harbour Masters’ Association's Congress which will be hosted in Morocco by Tanger Med Port Authority from 21 to 24 May 2024.

As part of IMO’s work to ensure that its regulatory framework for Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) keeps pace with rapidly evolving technological developments, the Joint MSC-LEG-FAL Working Group on Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS-JWG) held its second session from 17 to 21 April at IMO HQ.  A seminar to discuss legal issues concerning MASS preceded the session.   

On 18 April 2023, the European Parliament adopted the final EP-Council agreement for the revised EU Emissions Trading System (ETS).

On 20 April Hutchison Ports BEST terminal in the Port of Barcelona was signalled as one of the greenest container terminals in the Mediterranean attributed to the design of its infrastructure and the way it conducts its operations. In addition, in 2022 it has eliminated Scope 2 emissions by opting for electricity from 100% renewable energy.
