MOU with GRSE - Training at Doha, Qatar

MOU with Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd

Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at Kolkata on 7 July.

With regard to this accord IRS will provide a comprehensive range of services to GRSE Ltd comprising planning of repairs/refits and modification work of ships, provision of QA services during execution thereof, facilitating skill augmentation of GRSE personnel, and undertaking technical studies and analyses over a large range of subjects.

For repair or refit and modification work, IRS will prepare the detailed scope of work to be undertaken, inclusive of a detailed defect list based on assessment of material state through survey and inspection, undertake inspection and witness tests and trials of required new components/equipment, as applicable, and witness running trials of onboard machinery, on completion of work.

IRS will undertake various technical studies and analyses  including fatigue life assessment, noise/vibration analysis, signature prediction – as required by GRSE.

IRClass Training at Doha, Qatar

IRClass Academy, the training arm of international ship classification society, Indian Register of Shipping (IRS), has provided comprehensive International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS) training to an array of key stakeholders in Doha, Qatar.

The training session was inaugurated by Dr Saleh Mohsin A R Fetais, Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Transport, Qatar. A variety of topics were covered in the training including maritime security policies, security responsibilities, threat identification and emergency preparedness, drills and exercises.

This training was well attended by personnel from the Coast Guard, Ministry of Interior, Qatar Navy, Ministry of Transport, Ras Laffan Port Security and Industrial Security who gained insights and provided positive feedback. The training programme was co-ordinated and facilitated by Captain Bijoy Sharma IRS Country Manager for Qatar.
